I was always someone who did his best work on the sidelines.

Growing up as your typical nerdy, bullied introvert, I never gravitated to the center of a stage, although I did perform; I’ve always had creative ambitions. This manifested in the forms of writing, acting as a kid, making music as an adult, all combined with my love of video games– I was and am someone who grew to appreciate the little details often overlooked.

This forms the core of what I believe I can offer a business; I have always been a detailed, meticulous person who firmly believes that in order for everything to run, often it is induced by a domino effect of all the little things working together, rather than the actions of one big moment, or specific person. I work best in these supporting roles, ensuring others can run the things they need to smoothly. This comes from my background when I worked at Barnes and Nobel; for the first 2 of my 4 and a half years I worked there, I worked in the receiving room, receiving the shipments of books, and organizing them efficiently so they might be sorted on the sales floor as quickly as possible. I also devised organizational system and changes to the sales floor that, as of the time of my parting the company, to my knowledge are still even minimally in place to this day.

This is not all I can do however, despite my naturally introverted demeanor, I have a certain pedigree of natural people skills that, when in a work environment, have allowed me to get along well with customers in sales environments, high-level managers/supervisors, and maintain a professional demeanor in high stress scenarios.

My end goal is to work my way up the Walt Disney Company. It wasn’t a childhood dream like many, though I have been a passionate fan my whole life, but it did not seem possible until I put some time in with the company in Florida, throgh their “College Program.” There, I worked in the costuming departmetn, it was essentially laundry duty, but I was in charge of ensyring the quality of costumes, and had to drive comapny vehicles to various sites to replenish clothing, and clean the pieces used by employees and performers. This plays into my skill set I mentioned; this is work that the general public would never see, but it is vital to ensuring the continued quality the comapny promises.

Where my social media training comes into play is that my focus is in marketing already, and due to my desire and fondness for being creative and being interested on knowing how people think, my desire is to work my way up the company, and land a position making creative decision, or playing a crucial part in initiatives, be it for the parks, merchandise, etc. etc. Though my Associates Degree could be just around the corner, I still have a long way to go, so I won’t let myself get complacent.
